Making ::

Last weekend I was quite busy.

I made my first ever dress for June.
I followed the pillowcase dress pattern and this pattern by ManiMina. I couldn't stick to the ManiMina pattern because I'm not sure I cut the arm holes right and it was obvious that if I tried to create a hem for the elastic gathering to cinch the neck that there wouldn't be enough room for June's arms. So, this really ended up being my own creation. June wore it all day until she had a potty training accident in it, so I count that as a success. I had really wanted to make June a dress in time for Easter but ran into so many problems with it. Adam gave me some hours alone so I could finish this dress and I was (and am still) so thankful.

I made a yummy pasta following a Nigella recipe. Here is the recipe photo and a photo of how mine turned out.

June and I made biscuits (which were for strawberry shortcake - you know it is good when no pictures get taken.)

Already this weekend is different, less productive somehow, but nice and relaxing. I think I needed the relaxation time.
I still don't know what to cook for dinner this week. Ideas?

  1. Easy recipe, since you are eating meat now, is meatloaf burgers-

    take pound of chuck, add 2 eggs, 2 cups italian bread crumbs, 1/2 cup diced sweet onion, 1/2 cup diced green pepper,Tbsp sweet relish, 1/2cup ketchup (or 1/4 cup Heinz 57 steak sauce). Mix well, knead with hands to mix well. Place in refrigerator 1 hour. Then mold into hamburger patties. Chuck usually has little fat so to keep from sticking bad I sometimes add touch of butter to pan. Cook 15 minutes then flip & cook another 15. Now add 1 cup hot water & cook on low till pan is dry again. This assures burger veggies are done.

    You can serve on nice rolls w/lettuce, tomato, or make gravy from drippings & add mashed potatoes.

    This recipe is GREAT for meatballs. Roll into small balls, cook till done, add red sauce with cup water added. Simmer till sauce is thick. Serve on sub roll with favorite cheese. Place under broiler 4 minutes to toast sub before serving.

    Enjoy!
    *give my new email another week, laptop still in shop. Using Sarah's & can't access my address book or email yet.

  3. I love the photo of Junie looking backwards, with the dress slipping down her shoulder. So sweet.

    I just made wet polenta for dinner, and Mishi loved it - she had 3 servings. Ari didn't like it, though.
    They both love couscous and you can make any sort of sauce with that. Its easy and yummy, and an alternative to pasta (which is what my kids would eat everyday if they could... ).

    You are looking so happy and healthy.
