Blog Anniversary

Today this blog turns one. I hoped that I would make it this far.

Perhaps in honor of today, anybody out there who reads but hasn't ever commented could comment. I sure would like it. :)

I have been rehearsing this post in my head for awhile. Sometimes I am not sure what I want to record on these "pages." I started out more personal, but then as many things do, the blog developed a life of its own and I started to focus more on our daily life and the things that matter to me. I like this focus. In the coming year I hope to add a lot more creativity in however that comes about. I will keep describing the things that make me happy. I will keep recording the growth of June. And I will keep trying to be genuine.

I am really excited about the coming year. We have lots of life plans in the mix (aren't there always those?). I am excited about simple things, like taking time to develop family traditions now that we are three. Last year we went on a fabulous vacation for Christmas. This year, I hope to be family centered and maybe even get a tree.

Thanks for reading along.

P.S. Despite well laid plans, no bread yet. I will post when I make some though. I promise.

  3. Congats on one year, Amy! It's been a pleasure getting to know you and little June through your blog (whose sweet flippy curls remind me so much of my little one!). Your thoughtfulness and positive outlook always inspires me. I look forward to enjoying many more posts from you!

  5. I already commented, but couldn't not say this. I realized that I didn't start really following your blog until after you'd been doing it for a while so I just went back and read through some of your first posts. I love see the difference between what you were writing then, and what you've been writing lately.
Back then you were writing a lot about feeling like you'd lost yourself, it seems like lately you seem really in yourself (at least in your posts) and I was wondering if you feel that way? (If that seems too personal just ignore me :)
Also, I didn't know you were in a film...!!! Do you have a copy of it?

  6. Thank you for a year of sharing and honesty and laughing and reminding me to enjoy it all. I've really enjoyed reading along, and learning along.
I look forward to wherever your blog meanders - crafty, personal, baby (toddler) life, work, or.....

PS - I haven't made bread for weeks now. Life keeps getting in the way! Maybe tomorrow?

  8. Hey Amy! I didn't see this post until today, but I had never commented before and want to take this opportunity to let you know how much I love reading your blog. You are so genuine and have so many beautiful things in your life that you share here. I look forward to seeing your new posts and pictures. You're one of my main inspirations to start my own blog (haven't quite gotten around to doing the first post, but I'm getting there!). Anyway, thank you and happy blogging anniversary!

  10. I just want to say thanks to everyone for commenting.

And Emery, I think you are totally right. Things feel good, and though it has taken awhile, I am starting to finally feel confident as a parent.

  13. Hi Amy,
I have been enjoying these last posts and June's Obama video. Here is the bread recipe - It came from a little book called "Mitten Strings for God"
    Combine in a large bowl:
    2 T oil
    2 T honey
    1 T salt
Add 3 cups warm water and 1 T yeast
Stir and wait 5 minutes until yeast is dissolved
Stir in 3 1/2 cups white flour
and 3 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
    and 1 cup rolled oats
    Oil another large bowl and
When dough is well mixed - use you hands, scoop into the large oiled bowl and cover with a clean damp cloth and let rise 1 1/2 hours, then punch down and divide into loaves - allow one final rising in pans (30 min)
Bake at 400 for 40 minutes
I usually take some of the dough out and make pizza. Yum!
